About the Family
The Samuel Jones family has been in the Kershaw, SC area since the mid 1700's. Family patriarch William Jones, originally from Wales England, moved to South Carolina from Tidewater, Virginia after receiving a royal land grant in 1768. William's land grant was near the Hanging Rock creek and Little Lynches creek in present day Lancaster County/Kershaw County, South Carolina. Major Samuel Jones (1756-1847), his son, served in the revolutionary war and many of his descendants are members of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Much of what is known about the Samuel Jones Family was researched and published in three volumes of books by Mrs. Hazel Parker Jones.
